Marta
Mach
She is a director who tells stories from the heart — attentively, close to people and their everyday experiences. Her path to directing was shaped by many years of work as an art director and editor-in-chief of the lifestyle magazine “Zwykłe Życie.” It was there that she learned the craft of storytelling and developed a sensitivity to authenticity, detail, and the meaning hidden within seemingly simple stories. To this day, that experience remains the foundation of her cinematic language — rooted in narrative, emotional truth, and a strong focus on visual qualities.
In her work, she combines a refined aesthetic sensibility with a deep need for authenticity. The image is never an end in itself — it serves the story. Even in commercial projects, Marta seeks the energy of realism and genuine experience, building narratives that feel intimate and emotionally credible. Even when working within fictional conventions, she strives to ensure that viewers sense a real lived experience behind the image.
She is not afraid to address social issues often considered “taboo” in her films. Her work explores themes of freedom and women’s empowerment, gender equality, LGBTQIA+ rights, climate change, and sustainability. Many of her projects have a documentary character, even when created for commercial clients such as Levi’s, Health Labs Care, L’Oréal, or Medicine.
One of her particular strengths is working with non-professional actors — she creates a safe space in which the people in front of the camera can remain themselves. As a result, her films carry a naturalness and intimacy that are difficult to stage.
